COOPER, FLORENCE - AGE 88

 

Florence (Rayburn) Cooper, age 88, died at 8:50 p.m. Saturday, January 14, 2012 at Heritage Health Care in West Lafayette, where she resided.Born on June 15, 1923 in Lafayette, she was the daughter of the late Samuel Rayburn & Marie Fiddler Rayburn.  She married Ora S. Cooper and he preceded her in death in 1985.

She formerly worked for Ramada Inn as a supervisor in the housekeeping department & laundry, Milner Community Healthcare & also was a caregiver for the elderly.  She was a past member of the Linwood Church of Christ.  She enjoyed flower gardening.  She was an avid reader who loved reading the bible and her church.  She loved her cat & dog.

Surviving are 2 brothers: Delbert Rayburn (wife: Midge) of Arkansas & Harold Rayburn (wife: Tess) of Virginia; 2 grandchildren, Cameron Cooper (companion Sarah Canarsky) and Nicholas Cooper (companion Angie Alderson) both of Lafayete; 4 great-grandchildren, Casey Cooper, Amanda Alderson, Justin Cooper & Jessica Cooper; and 3 great-great-grandchildren, Braiden, Jacey, and Kaysen.  She was preceded in death by 1 son: Ora Lee Cooper, 1 brother: Lee Rayburn & 1 sister: Louise Jarrard.

    Florence will be greatly missed here on Earth, but she I am sure that she was received with open arms in Heaven. She was a true friend to many, including myself. I got to know her at church many years ago and we spent time talking and getting to know each other quite well. My thoughts and prayers are with you at this time.

    Florence was such a sweet sweet woman. i worked with her at Milner Healthcare until she retired in 2006. I learned so much from her.I'm sorry to say I lost touch with her over the years, but I have never forgotten her. She was a very loving and generous woman with a lot of wisdom.I will miss her very much. My thoughts, sympathy, and prayers are with her family.
